Tangkuban Perahu is exactly located at the mountain hill. From the top, you can enjoy the cooling weather and see a huge cliff with smoke coming out from it. But the most irritating thing was the sulfur smells. The smells became more and more solid when you get nearer to the crater. There are also many people selling souvenirs, local hand-made products, snacks and instant photo services.

Besides enjoying the scenery, you can also hike down to the crater through the forest. The forests have been open and steps was built by the locals to enable visitors enjoy the pleasant journey and save downhill. But to be honest, even though the journey down hill will be much more easier with a proper steps, the deep slopes down trail to the crater caused many people have difficulties to climb up back. For visitors who like challenging sports, you will like it.

During my visit with my family last year, we managed to get down to the crater. It was a very interesting place and you can see hot smokes came out from the gaps between the stones. Besides, there are small natural pond with boiling water in it and people selling eggs for you to boil inside the pond. It is quite dangerous to boil the eggs yourself. So, pay a little more and you can get the eggs seller to boil for you.

This is one of the tourist attractions in Bandung and it will makes your trip worth with its nice scenery. Only one thing that you need to take into consideration is the local tour guide. Many people get cheated as tour guide ask for more after you reach the crater or they will not guide you back. Actually, tour guide there is not necessary as it is only one way down and 2 ways up. As there are definitely many people down there, you can just follow other people’s way up and down, and that what we did during our trip there.

Safari Park visits on 5 October 2009 with my hubby and my little brother (Rio). It is located at Cisarua, on the way to Puncak. Along the way to Taman Safari, there are many people selling carrots and banana for animal feeding, which I believe it is not allowed. But we did buy some carrots too. Once you reached the main entrance, tickets payment made without leaving your car. Entrance ticket is Rp 60,000.00 per head and additional Rp 15,000.00 per car.

The very first entrance is the wild open park which you have to go in by car. It was interesting to have the chance staying with the friendly animals roaming around your car and staring at their funny habits.  You can stay as long as you like and stop wherever you like. We feed most of the animals with carrot and surprising most of them ate carrot. We were not planned to feed Zebras because they have quite big numbers, but they seem asking for food by blocking our way. So, we just feed some and one of the zebra’s head get into the driver window and bite the signal knob. May be it just looked like a carrot for them.

Out from the open park, there are zoo, water park, café & restaurant, and souvenir shop. There you can do tracking, water activities and watch animals performance. We managed to watch three animal shows: Lion Sea, Eagle and elephant performances.

Do spare some time to visit Taman Safari if you are somewhere around and experience yourself like we did. A great interesting place for every age, only here at Taman Safari Indonesia.
